Chapter 2 Summary
This chapter is primarily about about a black boy from southern Philidelphia Stefan and his mother Monica. Stefan was nicknamed Obama by his peers because he looks like him and acts like him. His father had to gone to jail and tried to write to his son. Stefan went to a catholic high school called Roman. To be like Obama he decided to run for school president. His campaign one because of its diversity and Stefan became the first black president at the school like Obama became the first black president of America. He graduated high school as honor student and then made plans for college. But there was trouble, his mother was going broke and was loosing money. She could not sleep and gained weight everyday. Her landlord threatened to evict them. She was desperate to pay for Stefan to go to college. Stefan ended up finding a college called La Salle. Meanwhile Obama was trying to pass an extension for unemployed people to get money. Monica was hoping it would be passed. Soon the extension was passed. Monica and Stefan went to go see the school La Salle and thought it was very nice and he decided to go to it. Stephan had already made friends at the opening meeting. Stephan also wrote a letter to Obama in which Obama responded to asking Stephan to visit the White House. So Stephan invited his mother to go see it together where he enjoyed it a lot. At the end weeks later Monica finally says goodbye to Stephan as he heads off to college.
